    High quality, nice pouch

First, let me say that I am not a multi-tool guy. Every time I pick up one of these things, it seems like such a useful thing that, logically, I simply must have to have it. Alas, after days of having big blocky things bounce around in my pocket, I generally decide there are easier (and lighter) ways to carry a sharp blade – which is 99% of what I use anyway.

That being said, if you are a person who actually has a use for such items, this one appears to be of a fine quality. Smith & Wesson generally makes good hardware (I have been carrying a S&W S.W.A.T. folder for 17 years now), and this is no exception. The handles affix firmly to the plier head, and I do not feel I will damage them or the hinges if I grip them with serious intent. The entire thing is coated in the standard S&W flat black finish; the same finish was applied to my S.W.A.T. knife, and it lasted for nearly 10 years, so I have high hopes for this one. I did feel there was an abundance of can openers on this model, but the file and the blade are of a higher quality than I usually see on these contraptions. The blade is easy to get out, but other attachments are somewhat crowded. Regardless, they all seem and operate sturdily enough. The included belt pouch (made of a strong nylon with a strong plastic belt clip) is a worry-free way to carry it, as well, much better than just dropping it in a pocket.

Like I said, I’m not generally a multi-tool kind of guy. But having owned (and been unsatisfied with) many multi-tools over the years, I think this one is a quality specimen and generally a tribute to its species; I expect it will serve me well for many years to come.
